2/1/2020 0 Comments SWAN DAY 2020 PRESS RELEASEANNOUNCING A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN ARTISTS ON SATURDAY, MARCH 28 AT THE MAIN BRANCH OF THE LOUISVILLE FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY LOUISVILLE, Kentucky Support Women Artists Now day (SWAN Day) is an annual international celebration of women’s creativity and gender parity activism, held each year on the fourth Saturday in March. Louisville has sponsored the annual SWAN celebration since 2008, thanks to the dedication of playwright Nancy Gall-Clayton and theater director, Kathi E. B. Ellis. The 2020 SWAN Day will honor both women, especially Kathi E. B. Ellis who died of breast cancer in 2019. The celebration is a free event open to the public on Saturday, March 28— 2PM to 3:30— in the Centennial Room at the Main Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, 301 York Street, Louisville, KY 40203. The 2020 SWAN program will feature Louisville and Southern Indiana women from visual, performing, dramatic and language arts, including Hannah Drake (spoken word), Margareth Miguel (mezzo-soprano), Selene Phillips (poet), Linda Erzinger (3D visual), Grace Hotkewicz ( 2D visual), Carol Ralph (fabric artist), Marta Miranda Straub (poet), Ebony Jordan, (actor), Theresa Bautista (dancer), and Leigh Ann Yost (musician). Actors Susan McNeese Lynch and Megan Burnett will perform a dramatic scene honoring Nancy Gall-Clayton and Kathi E. B. Ellis. Following the performances and presentations, we will serve light refreshments, giving the audience a chance to meet and thank the participating artists.
